Telegrammtastic

Bobby and Chris, aka Telegramme, are my favourite image makers bar none. I had the pleasure of Bobby's friendship while at uni and have since worked with him on a couple of things. They produce piece after piece of excruciatingly beautiful work and I am always uber jealous of their skills. BIG things will happen for them, especially seeing as they've just moved to a space next to the old Big Breakfast house - a peanut factory! World domination is one step closer. IF you're clueless to who im on about please go and explore every single part of their lovely website and maybe order something from their webstore - i know as soon as i get paid i will be! Here is a small selection of their recent work that particularly caught my eye..

Mentor

Bryan Clark. Giant. Heavyweight. Superstar. All accurate when describing my former mentor. Now Grafik agree..

When i wrote to the Bryman about his most recent accolade he responded "rather pleased that Paul Rand is finally
getting off my patch!" genius. legend. hero.

Hit The Beach!

Last night i drove to Leeds with my friend Ben to see some bands play.. The Common Place (venue) is a autonomous, radical social centre (apparently) comprising of vegan cafe, diy venue, cinema etc.. 4 bands gave it there all to the tiny crowd (comprising mostly of the other bands plus a few friends) and a jolly time was had by all. I took the opportunity to play around with some simple long exposure and colour bias settings on my digital, the results of which can be found here. I also got to rock my new Hit the Beach tee (as above), designed by HorseBites Design honcho Richard Minino - you can also check him out on myspace

Ecoloqo!

Jeremy Tridgell, he's loco! He's only gone and set up an awesome website called ecoloqo. This is a social bookmarking site that works visually and collects views of the best looking and most useful sustainability websites. The aim is to explore how sustainability is represented on the web and examine and discuss webdesign for sustainability.
It is for all in design and those interested in sustainability and the web.
It has three basic views:
- a tagcloud of subjects that users have tagged their sites with
- the tagged collections of visual cues or cropped elements that give us thumbnail views of the sustainable web, and
- the access to the individual sites with a chance to vote upon, comment on as well as view the site live.

Im not much of a one for webdesign, but I really like the interface.

Dig This!

Right about now i should probably be promoting all my graduating friends full of talent and lust for work.. but instead im going to point you towards the ever elusive 'Diggy' a graphic designer but not as we know it. More illustrator than designer perhaps, she clearly has the skillz.

Seiz Matters

My university years have brought me into contact with many colourful characters - and they havnt come much more colourful than Gui Seiz. The hairy monster has kept me inspired and entertained for 3 years, and i will always be grateful for the help he's given me along the way. From the Friday night Fight nights sat in his kitchen watching the Contender, to font and book swapping, to nipple tweaking on the beach - Gui is rad. He also shares in part my love of the badge and has created some beauties im sharing with you here now... check out his portfolio to see more outstanding work. I think this guy might just be the one from our year to really make it big...

Lord Bunn Lives!

A good few years ago now i stumbled across a bearded wonder in a great little shop in the Forum in Sheffield, called Fuse. This man i could tell was a creative behemoth, just from the shape of his brain. We have kept in contact over the years and exchanged some exciting cds, post and handshakes. I like him a lot. He is also an ultra-illustrator, having done some fantastic work for great people such as 65daysofstatic and the like. Royal Stock is the latest venture of his, and one i am more than happy to promote. His own site www.lordbunn.com is forever in a state of pending, so just go visit Royal Stock or his myspaz. Oh and Bunn, im ready for that Hüsker Dü vinyl...x

High Achiever

Those of you who know me might remember ive been to stay with my friend Sam in London a couple of times over the past year, and what a go-getter he is... He recently climbed Mount Everest by way of the Southeast ridge, the same route that led to the successful first summit by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953. You can view his diary of the trip and see some amazing pictures he took on his way up. BIG congratulations to Sambo, i can only imagine how relieved Nicky (his fiance) is feeling. I know this is nothing at all to do with design, but i think we could all do with an occasional kick up the proverbial backside and improve productivity in whatever we turn our hand to. Sam is a guy who takes life and makes things happen - an example to us all.

Rhodes

My boy Richard Rhodes has received a Commendation as part of the 2006/07 YCN Design & Communication Awards for his Barefoot Wine project (which was pretty darn good).
Falmouth infact has SEVEN commended entrants! not bad going... check out the list here Big congrats to all the others selected, particularly Thexton who has mad animation skills.

RosieReeves

Rosie is one of the many inspiring, engaging and interesting people ive had the pleasure of getting to know recently - her size and age belie her ability - she is going to be massive in the design world one day. Aside from cooking a mean roast dinner she also is a avid collector, enthusiastic film buff and now blogger, and as such i think you should check out her blog and see what she's discovered this week... Telegramme Towers

On the subject of commrades, YOU NEED THESE BOYS in your life. Telegramme are an old-school outfit run by Sirs Bobby and Chris, both as talented as they come, and handsome to boot. If you like your work beautiful, your patterns intricate and your high-fives hard - these could be the chaps for you. They've also recently done some stunning work for The Maple State - when these boys hit the bigtime dont say i didnt warn you.

Go get inspired! - Telegramme

Friendlies

Ellie Cryer is an amazing illustrator, and allround super-friendly girl. I've had the pleasure of living with her for the past year and i highly recommend her to you for general fun-time, tree-climbing, tea-drinking and work-avoiding. She's also mega at drawing badgers.
Visit her today HERE!

Bryan Clark

Former Lewis Moberly Creative Director - Bryan Clark - in all his 'Gruffalo' glory! I owe this man quite a bit in terms of education and im sure in years to come i'll look back and site his influence as being vital in my progression.
